iPhone 8

You have to pay at least $74 to enable fast charging on iPhone 8 and iPhone X

The new iPhones could be charged to 50% for 30 minutes, but there is a catch.

Along with the wireless charging support for the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, Apple also introduced fast charging.

According to the company, it would allow you to charge the battery from dead to 50% for half an hour… but there is a catch.

Unfortunately, your standard USB-A cable that comes with the phone doesn’t allow you to take advantage of fast charging, and you need to purchase a USB-C wall charger and a ‘USB-C to Lightning’ cable.

There are three wall chargers you could purchase from apple dot com, with prices from $49 to $79 depending on the power. However, the cheapest model is 29WP and there is no guarantee that it would enable the advertised 50% charge in ½ hour. Additionally, you have to buy a USB-C to Lightning for $25 or $35.

Applе mentions that the charging time depends on many conditions and it may take longer in some cases.

All in all, it’s good to see a new feature like fast-charging finally coming to iPhone, but it’s sad that the feature won’t work out of the box.
