The iPad line-up may have a new 10.5-inch member next year.
This is the second time we hear about an upcoming 10.5-inch iPad model in 2017. The new rumor comes from Taiwan, via DigiTimes. According to sources from the supply chain, Apple may announce a 10.5-inch tablet equipped with the A10X processor as part of the hardware refresh of the iPad line for 2017.
Apple’s iPad line-up will include a new 10.5 model, positioned as an enterprise / education tablet. According to the source, Apple will mostly try to sell this new tablet to the enterprise sector in the US, as the current 12.9-inch model is too expensive for the customers. At the same time, the current 9.7 inch tablet may be considered as too small for enterprises and the education sector.
We’ve heard different rumors about the iPad line in 2017, but most of them suggest that Apple will refresh its offering with new iPad / iPad Pro models with different screen sizes. According Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s new tablets will feature A10X chips, and at least one of them will be a Pro model.
With these new models, Apple will try to reverse the process of declining tablet sales, but this could be hard to achieve before 2018 and the expected transition from LCD to OLED display technology.
