Google updated its Map app for iOS
Google has launched two iOS home widgets for its Maps app, while others will be coming in future updates, according to a blog post. Google Maps version 5.74 includes two new widgets. The first one is called ‘Know before you go’, allowing users to see a 1×1 square map of their current location with traffic info, store opening times, and more.
The second new Google Maps widget in this release is named ‘Find places nearby’, providing the ability to search through the widget, and then open the app after the search is completed. In addition, the users can tap on shortcuts for Home and Work for a quick access to their favorite locations.
Prior version 5.74 of Google Maps, the application had another widget format for Traffic, Transit, Travel Times and Local Guides. All these will be gradually migrated to the new widget format with improved functionality.
