Apple sold 52.4 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2021
Canalys has just published its report about the global smartphone sales for the first quarter of 2021. According to the report, Samsung is still leading the market with a 22% share, followed by Apple with 15% and Xioami with 14%.
Most of the vendors saw a substantial increase, most notable Xiaomi and Oppo with sales jumping 62 and 60 percent, respectively. At the same time, Apple managed to increase its sales by 41 percent. Apple sold 52.4 million units, Samsung 76.5 million, Xiaomi – 49 million. The overall worldwide shipments grew 27 percent compared with the same quarter last year.

We don’t the actual shipments by models, but previous reports claimed that the iPhone 11 was still number 1, followed by two other iPhones – 12 and 12 Pro Max. iPhone 12 Mini is not selling well, as consumers still prefer larger screens, and this situation is not likely to change in the coming months.
The report also highlights some important moments which happened on the market this year. LG has left the business, which would open a possibility for big and small company to capture its market share. Apple has recently refreshed its iPhone 12 by announcing a new purple color. The major hardware upgrade of iPhone line will happen in September.
