iPhone X first weekend sales as strong as the iPhone 7

iPhone X and iPhone 8/8 Plus combined first weekend adoption is higher than the 2015 and 2016 models.

Localytics has revealed in a new report that the combined market share of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 & 8 Plus during the first few days on the market is higher than the total user base of the 2015 and 2016 models in the first weekend.

According to the report, iPhone X adoption rate was 0.93% in the first weekend, which is higher than the iPhone 8/8 Plus combined share (0.3% + 0.4%) after a weekend on sale. iPhone X sales were almost as strong as the sales of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s in 2016 and 2017, respectively, but weaker than the iPhone 6 in 2014. iPhone 6 was a huge hit back in 2014, capturing the impressive 2% for a just a few days.

Here are the first weekend adoption rates from 2013 to 2017:

  • 2013: 0.9%

  • 2014: 2.3%

  • 2015: 1.3%

  • 2016: 1.3%

  • 2017: 1.63%

After the first weekend on sale for iPhone X, and a month for the iPhone 8 duo, the most popular iPhone remains the iPhone 7 with a share of 19.74%. iPhone 6s and 6 are second and third, with 18.58% and 16.77%, respectively.
