Apple working on new iPads
We previously reported about the possible new iPad Mini coming out later this year. Based on the Bloomberg post, we told you how Apple was planning to upgrade the iPad Mini line by introducing slimmer bezels and other hardware changes. Now, 9to5 Mac reveals even more from their own sources.
The first upgrade of iPad Mini since 2019 is coming out with the new A15 processor – the same Apple will use for the new iPhones in 2021. The CPU will be built on the 5-nm processor. Apple is also working on a more powerful variant – A15X – this may be used for other iPads.
In addition to improved design and new processor, there will be a USB-C connector and a magnetic Smart connector, just like the iPad Pro and Air models. This would allow users to attach many new accessories and peripherals.
Along with the new iPad Mini, Apple is working on an entry-level iPad with the A13 processor. The current ‘cheap’ iPad features the A12 Bionic chip and has a 10.2-inch screen. Some design changes are also likely to come to the cheap iPad to complement to the performance boost.
