Apple releases the iOS update for six-generation iPad
The iPad’s 2018 hardware refresh in the form of the new iPad (6th generation) announced earlier this week is already receiving its first update, from 11.2 to iOS version 11.3. Strangely enough, the update is rolling out only to this specific model, while other iPads and iPhones are still on the 11.2 version. However, Apple appears to be releasing iOS 11.3 to all supported models very soon.
iPad 2018 is already shipping to the first customers, while the physical sales may not start until early next week. If you are among the lucky users who got the iPad, grab the update from the Sofware Update section in Settings.
iOS 11.3 as a major update to the OS announced in September 2017 brings some welcomed changes and improvements for smartphones and tablets. Among the more significant ones are the ability to backup messages on the cloud, and the new ‘Battery Health’ section in Settings that provides information about the battery status of your device. Other notable changes include the improved AppStore, ARKit 1.5 for developers, new HomeKit features for smarthome devices, and more.
iOS 11.3 update should be released for all devices later this week.
