iOS 11.2.5 update available for everyone with supported devices

Apple releases the official iOS 11.2.5 update to supported models.

The company is now offering the iOS 11.2.5 update for everyone in the production channel. If you have an officially supported iPhone or iPad device, the 11.2.5 update brings some welcomed additions and improvements to iOS.

The new features first. Apple introduces the ability to play podcasts with Siri – a feature available for beta testers for a month now. You can simply ask Siri to play a podcast, or alternatively visit the podcast section where you will find sources like CNN, Washington Post and many others. The feature is only live for users living in the US, UK and Australia – the same countries that will get the HomePod speaker next month. Another change in iOS is related to the audio controls where the audio sources are listed separately, instead of presented in single tile.

In terms of improvements, iOS 11.2.5 brings many under the hood changes and fixes. It fixes the issue in CarPlay becoming unresponsive, and the issue that can cause the Messages to be listed out of order. Additionally, the update fixes the issue where the Phone app displays incomplete information, and the Mail notifications disappear from the Lock Screen.
