A possible hardware defect of the iPhone X.
A small but increasing number of iPhone X users have faced a strange problem with their devices – a thin green line from top to bottom, on the left / right side, or elsewhere on the OLED screen. It’s a possible hardware defect of the display manufactured by Samsung, or an issue related to the connection between the motherboard and the screen. Keep in mind that the percent of affected devices is likely to be insignificant compared to the millions of happy iPhone owners who doesn’t have any problems at all.
One of the owners wrote on Twitter that the bright green line appeared suddenly while the phone was in use. It’s green and bright, going down the entire side of the phone. This green line of death was not visible on the phone in the first days of use, and appeared suddenly without the phone is dropped or whatsoever.
It appears that it’s a permanent hardware issue rather than a software one, as restarting or resetting the phone doesn’t remove the green line. The problem is not a model-specific one, which means it could appear on both 64GB or 256GB devices of any color.
Fortunately, this is a problem that affects only a small number of devices, and Apple is already replacing the affected units free of charge. The company refused to comment the issue.
