Apple iPhone 8 Plus gets 94 points, iPhone 8 scores 92.
DxOMark, a specialized website dedicated to image quality, has updated their Mobile ranking after testing the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. According to DxOMark, Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus is the best smartphone camera at the moment with a score of 94 out of 100.
Thanks to an improved dual-lens camera system on iPhone 8 Plus that features a wide and a telephoto lens, iPhone 8 Plus offers improved image quality for both photos and videos. The overall score of 94 is a new record, beating the former leaders Google Pixel and HTC U11 which both had 90.
DxOMark concludes that the iPhone 8 Plus is the best phone for photos with a score of 96, and the second best for video with 89. Only Pixel had 90, while HTC U11 also had 89 for video quality.
Even the iPhone 8 – a device with a single 12-megapixel camera outperforms Google’s Pixel and HTC U11. iPhone 8 is ranked the second-best smartphone camera with a score of 92 (93 for photo and 90 for video).
Keep in mind that the DxOMark ranking cannot be considered as 100% accurate as the scores depend on the chosen criteria. For example, the website has recently updated their score criteria and included a rank for bokeh – an area in which iPhone shines thanks to some software tricks.
However, we can be certain that the new iPhones are one of the best cameraphones in late 2017, if the best.
